Located in the southwest of Europe, Spain shares the Iberian Peninsula with Portugal, Gibraltar and Andorra. It is a geographically and culturally diverse country that offers visitors a range of landscapes, environments and activities.

The diverse landscape within the country varies greatly, offering a choice of hiking paths and mountain trails, 450 'Blue Flag' beaches along 4000km of picturesque coastline, 10 Natural Parks, each occupying a minimum area of 25,000km2, 577 protected areas (with the best maintained biodiversity in Europe), the largest group of World Heritage Cities in any single country, rural picturesque villages and vibrant modern cities. Its landscape incorporates green meadows, fertile valleys, snow capped mountains and a range of white sand, pebble and volcanic black sand beaches.

Spain, as one of the fastest growing economies in Western Europe, has experienced over 14 years of economic growth. It is currently the 5th largest economy within Europe and the 8th largest within the world. The country has enjoyed a stable economy, low inflation, low interest rates and a budget surplus for a number of years. All of these factors, in addition to attractive tax and research schemes have attracted a great deal of overseas interest. For this reason over 10,500 foreign countries are currently established in Spain.

Spain remains a hugely popular tourism destination. In fact, it is currently the world’s 3rd most popular tourism destination in the world, attracting over 50 million tourists annually. The country is home to over 47 airports, enabling over 250 airline carriers to service international routes in and out of Spain.
